Suikei Yokoyama

Seal engraver/engraver

Graduated from the Faculty of Literature at Sophia University in 1955. He has held 33 solo exhibitions of calligraphy, and 33 exhibitions in galleries and department stores in total. He has exhibited at many Japan-China Calligraphy Exhibitions held in Beijing and other major cities in China, as well as at overseas exhibitions in Europe and the United States. In 1981, he contributed to the large-scale carving of the national treasure (Sanbutsudo) of Nikko's Rinnoji Temple. In 1994, he exhibited 12 pieces at the Kyoto Art Festival commemorating the 1200th anniversary of the founding of the Heian capital, and won the Heian Dynasty Culture Grand Prize. He exhibited at the Japonime Art Festa 94 Osaka exhibition commemorating the opening of Kansai International Airport, and won the International Art Award. In 1996, he was recognized as an "Art Maison non-screening artist" at the official international artist selection meeting held in Madrid, Spain. In 1996, he exhibited 15 calligraphy works at the Florence Art Festival, Arte Contemporanea del Mondo, and won the Cramplimo Florence Art Grand Prize.
